Paying It Forward: A Regional Story of Hellenic Women and Legacy
Abstract
This presentation explores the intergenerational legacy of Hellenic women in regional Australia and the enduring cultural, economic, and civic contributions they make to the nation’s social fabric. Drawing on lived experience as a regionally based Hellenic leader, the session reflects on how values of philotimo, resilience, and community stewardship shape leadership pathways for women outside metropolitan centres.
The presentation also examines the role of diaspora institutions—particularly the Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI) National Federation—in strengthening Australia–Greece connections through business, cultural exchange, and strategic partnerships. As the only federated Hellenic organisation of its kind outside Greece, HACCI provides a unique platform for amplifying regional voices and fostering bilateral engagement.
This talk invites participants to consider how legacy is built, how it is passed forward, and how regional Hellenic women continue to redefine influence, representation, and contribution across generations.
