Biographical note

A third generation Territorian, Judge Anastasis (Tass) Liveris graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the Northern Territory University, now known as CDU, in 2001, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory in 2002. Practicing in Perth for several years, he was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2004 and the High Court of Australia in 2007, before returning to the Top End. Tass served as President of the Law Society of the Northern Territory from 2015-2017, and was President of the Law Council of Australia in 2022, becoming only the third Territorian to hold this office in 90 years. This year, he was appointed to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
